Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future of Interior Design

Description:

In celebration of IIDA’s IL Chapter 30th anniversary, interior design students are invited to share their personal reflections and aspirations for interior design through a 2-minute video. This is an opportunity to express what interior design means to you and your vision for its future.

Interior design students may include a project from their classes that represents their connection to interior design or their vision for the future of the industry.

Prompt:

What does interior design mean to you, and what is your hope for its future?

Submission Guidelines:

• Video Length: 2 minutes maximum.
• Content:
  • Share your personal connection to interior design - why it matters to you.
  • Express your hopes for the future of interior design, focusing on areas like innovation, sustainability, inclusivity, or social impact.
  • Include a project from your classes that reflects your personal design philosophy or vision for the future of interior design. You may showcase this project as part of your video to help bring your ideas to life.
• Format: Creative freedom - your video can include a personal narrative, visuals, sketches, or any medium that brings your message to life.

Eligibility:

• Must be an interior design student attending school or permanent residence in the state of Illinois.
• Must be Junior or Senior level status.
• Must be a student member of IIDA.

Judging Criteria:

• Authenticity and personal connection to the topic.
• Creativity in expressing ideas.
• Clarity and engagement in communication.
• Alignment with IIDA’s vision of promoting the power of interior design to transform spaces and lives.

Prize:

(3) Winners will receive $500 featured on IIDA IL Chapter's platforms and celebrated during the IIDA IL 2025 Summer Intern Meet-Up. Additional prizes include a certificate of recognition.

Deadline:

All videos must be submitted on or before 6/18/25 to be eligible for awards.

Winners will be announced at the Summer 2025 Intern Meet-Up in July.
